Day 7: The Reason for Everything

To “glorify” GOD is to “honor” GOD, to praise and worship HIS name on high.  We should not seek “glory” for ourselves – which takes away the “honor” and “glory” that belongs to HIM alone but to serve and please GOD in everything we do, therefore, bringing “glory” to HIM.  We must “worship” GOD properly and lead a life that is pleasing and acceptable to HIM.  This is our purpose here on earth.  As it states in Isaiah 43:7 – “The LORD created man to bring “glory” to GOD.

–Thank you Julia for this contribution.

How can I bring Glory to God?

We bring God glory by worshiping Him. We worship God by enjoying Him. God wants us motivated by love, thanksgiving, delight, not duty.

We bring God glory by loving other believers.  Paul said, “Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified”.

-We bring God glory by becoming like Christ.  “As the spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more & more like Him & reflect His glory even more.”-Bible

-We bring God glory by serving others with our gifts.  “God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts.  Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow thru you…are you called to help others?  Do it with all the strength & energy that God supplies.  Then God will be given glory.”

-We bring God glory by telling others about Him.  He doesn’t want his love & purposes kept a secret.  This is a great privilege—introducing others to Jesus, helping them discover their purpose.

What will I live for?

Jesus stood at a fork in the road.  Would he fulfill his purpose & bring glory to God, or would he shrink back & live a comfortable, self-centered life?  We face the same choice.

Right now, God is inviting us to live for His glory by fulfilling the purposes He made us for.  It’s really the only way to live.  Everything else is just existing.

First, Believe.  Believe God loves you & made you for his purpose.  Believe you are not an accident.  Believe that no matter what you’ve done, God wants to forgive you.

Second, Receive.  Receive his Spirit, who will give you the power to fulfill your life purpose.

Question to Consider:  Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God’s glory?  In my morning prayer, as I look outside & enjoy all that God has created—To try during my day, to be aware of others & help those in need, not just pass them by—when I see them again, they remember me, I am grateful to God that I have done His will.  To consciously use my gifts towards assisting others—surprisingly just this week, so many other people connected because we helped a project begin.  To tell others about our blog, so that more of us discuss Purpose Driven Life.  Just did it today when I accidentally bumped into Catherine in downtown Athens—she has Warren’s bk and will be joining us! Please tell others so we can share this experience together.

Enjoy the snowflakes coming soon!

* Weekly we will be writing about what inspires us from each consecutive chapter of Warren’s Purpose Driven Life.  If you read along with us, plse share your inspirations.  There’s no need to catch up, just jump right in.
