God doesn’t play dice. –Einstein
Every person, everything was created, designed with a purpose in mind. Nothing in our lives is arbitrary. It’s all for a purpose. “Long before you were conceived by your parent, you were conceived in the mind of God”. We discover meaning & purpose only when we make God the reference point of our lives.
While reading The Shack, I found this: A bird is created to fly. Being grounded is a limitation within its ability to fly. We were created by God to be loved. To live as if you were unloved is a limitation. Living unloved is like clipping a bird’s wings and removing its ability to fly. God doesn’t want this.
God’s motive: He made us so He could love us. This is a truth to build your Life on! Do we believe it? Sometimes we find ourselves staring at our children or our companions as they sleep, watching them breathe & feeling so much love for them. It overwhelms all other feelings. That is how God looks at us all as we sleep, with that same overwhelming love.
We spend lots of time worrying about the future. Do we ever picture God with us? Most likely he’s absent because we want to have control over our lives. Our fears are because we don’t know, deep in our hearts, that God loves us. We sing & talk of it, but don’t know it. Men find fulfillment in achievements, where they find their identity, value & security. Women find it in relationships, perhaps that’s why it’s easier for women to find a relationship w/God. In our quest for independence, performance & fulfillment we destroy the relationships the heart longs for. We need to turn back to God.
We aren’t defined by our limitations, but by God’s intention for us. We aren’t defined by our appearance, but by everything it means to be created in God’s image.
Warren’s Question to Consider: I know God uniquely created me. What areas of my personality, background, physical appearance am I struggling to accept?
* Weekly we will be writing about what inspires us from each consecutive chapter of Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. If you read along with us, plse share your inspirations. There’s no need to catch up, just jump right in.
